Deborah A. Heitman, MA, LPC Psychotherapist

Using a variety of counseling approaches, Deborah enables her clients to find healing from their past, embrace practical solutions for the present and instill hope for the future. "Counseling, like all aspects of personal devleopment, is a process," Debroah says. "It takes time to understand the underlying causes of why a person views herself the way she does and how that affects her relationships with others. But the mere act of investing in the counseling process is a step of proactivity that begins change, healing and improvements in every area of life."

Deborah helps her clients to recognize their unique, God-given gifts and talents and to build on that sense of worth to deal with challenges related to self-esteem, relationships, family dynamics and vocational issues. "The world around us, even one's family of origin, can produce a negaitve self-image, and obscure the fact that each individual is created in the image of God," she says. "The counseling process should be one in which an individual is able to identify the messages and assumptions that are preventing personal growth. Then the process for learning a more accurate, positive approach to life's very challenging circumstances can emerge."
